Suicide File first shirt

I bought this shirt at the same gig as prestoneleven. “I can still remember the Boston show where I picked this shirt up in 2001. Bane, Stop & Think, The Dedication, Invasion, Panic, and a little known band at the time called The Suicide File.” Yes it was quite the show. That was also Invasions first show if im not mistaken either where my horrible first shirt I ever made was released. Another gig that was a whirlwind of picking up shirts before the gig, seeing friends, diving, eating, etc… I love that the Invasion demos came mostly taped over other things and had the lyrics rubber banded around them.

The First Piece of Sound And Fury 2011 Merch to hit Ebay?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe nextbigthing35 has posted the very first Sound And Fury flip. This one happens to be the limited Suicide File tanktop. They didn’t make too many and seemed to sell out pretty quickly. Kids were really into the set. Even with the busted string, kids were into it. Plus, the busted string gave Dave time to work on his stand up. He ripped the Lakers pretty hard. On a related note, while walking down State Street in SB with Casali, a very, very, very short man shouted at Casali’s waist (that’s how short he was), “Let’s Go Yankees!” Must have been retribution for Casali’s Red Sox hat. Of course, we were in California, not the Bronx, so we were both confused. A block away, I hear the same man yell out “TWENTY SEVEN.” Casali didn’t hear it, but I’m pretty sure it happened.

Suicide File

Im really surprised I still like Suicide File. For some reason I thought that they wouldnt stand the test of time for me but every time they come up on shuffle I dont skip to the next track and I end up giving the the EP and LP both full listens. Im kinda stoked on that because they always had fun gigs in boston. The last Suicide File gig was at the ICC church in Boston and it was sold out. The people running the doors were being super strict and kinda dicks but there was no way a few of us were going to miss our friends last gig. After trying back doors and seeing if anyone could get us in via guestlists and having that fail we noticed a jeep cherokee parked next to a high up window so about 6 of us climbed up this SUV and then scrambled up the window onto some merch tables full of merch. Mission accomplished :) Besides that the only thing I remember about that show was it was suuuuuperr fucking hot in that place which suprised me cause its a giant place with super high ceilings and i figured the heat would rise and we’d be cool but i was wrong. dukesxup doesnt really offer up any info about this shirt so your guess is as good as mine when or where he got it

Ending Soon – The Suicide File

Seller crushedonyou has what I believe is the first Suicide File shirt up for grabs. This was an awesome era for The Suicide File. They weren’t too huge, kids weren’t drooling all over them, and it was definitely all for fun. No stress, no mess. The demo grabs you and isn’t even overwhelmed by political undertones. Kissinger What?

This shirt also came in white with black ink. And could have been sold at this gig.

November 2, 2001 @Mass Art Boston Mass: Bane (record release), Reach The Sky, Suicide File (first show), Stop and Think

Hot gig, no doubt. Also, I hit up google to see if I could find any pics of this gig, and stumbled on this link.

Protest flyer made by “Moshtrogen” in reaction to the flyer for Bane’s record release show. Handed out Nov 2nd 2002 at Mass Art outside the show. (back)

I desperately want to see this picture. But it says it’s private. WACK. Also, I cannot for the life of me recall what was so controversial about the flyer art. Shit, someone hook up some pics.

Derek Hess Print

I’ve always wanted one of these prints. Derek Hess has a cool style I can support.

August 16, 2003 at the Cleveland Agora — Throwdown, Bane, Every Time I Die, Terror, The Promise, The Suicide File, Comeback Kid and Above This Fire.

I wasn’t at the show (and have never heard of Above The Fire), but I’d be down to own a print. You know, for the old Bane collection I have brewing.

But with an opening bid of $50 and a Buy It Now at the laughable price of $200, I think I’ll hold out. I don’t need one that bad.

WTF? No pants

Hey, where are your pants?

Is this a new sales marketing ploy? Lack of pants? I’ve seen it work the other way with “DIY tanks” but never the no pants route.

You be the judge.

Suicide File – No Pants

Forward To Death – No Pants

Modern Life Is War – No Pants

Actually, that last one could be a skirt. It’s definitely a long skinny (which is the opposite of the mid 90s fave short wide).

The Suicide File – Reunion Tee

It seems that The Suicide File departed on an off note. It was good to see those dudes get back together and have a PROPER send off. I know they finally had a chance to tour Europe. I’m sure kids were psyched. And then they played a few more shows afterward. Everyone seemed to really enjoy that. Good for them, I say. I was always a big fan of that demo. Dave went on to become a teacher, and according to the Wikipedia entry, his kids have been having fun with him.

As for the tee, I’m not sure how I feel about it. It feels like a nod to the sketchy lot that was on Pontiac St in Roxbury. You could see this kind of graffiti splashed all over those rocks. Of course, these days that sketchy lot has been torn down and replaced with some fancy condos. Yeah, eff that. Can you imagine how different that fight between Chris B9 and Azy would have been if it had taken place in a fancy condo living room? Where do people dump their old ass TVs now? Wack, very wack.

The X’s as dots on the I’s seems a little off to me too. Pretty sure EVERY dude in that band is an edge breaker.

Panic, American Nightmare, Suicide File … 2K Shirts

In 2000, New England had some of the best bands going. Boston in particular had the straight edge scene on lockdown. Every scene and every kid wanted to have that Boston sound, that Boston feel (me too, really. I lived in Central Mass, not Boston). Few pulled it off no matter how hard they tried. Some got it good, some got it right. But none seemed to last like the memories of these beasts.

American Nightmare

Winter 2000 tour. A truly great shirt. Kids were going nuts afterwards with imagery of razors and cutting. It was actually sort of a shitty time as far as shirt designs go. How many tees do you REALLY need with razors on them?

Suicide File

This particular tee actually came from a more recent tour. Suicide File got back together and hit up Europe. I don’t recall hearing how it went, but I’m sure it went over like gangbusters.

Panic

Here’s a one of a kind “test” shirt. The screen printer whipped this one out while testing their screens. The only tshirt of this design to come on a white tee. White tees are the best.

I’m pretty sure I know who this seller is, and I wish him good luck with all those auctions. Check out his other auctions for more Suicide File, Panic, American Nightmare, In My Eyes, The Explosion … tees. Lots of gems in there. Sadly, he may have missed his chance to truly cash in on these auctions. It feels like the AN/Panic cycle is out. 3-4 years ago, kids would have been punching mothers to get crazy bids in. Now, I just don’t think it’ll be the same. Hell, they’ll still sell for a good amount, but I get the feeling it won’t be a RIDICULOUS amount.
