Shutdown Summer Tour 99

Do you know anyone who digs Shutdown? I was never much of a fan but I enjoyed them live. If you do know someone, let them know that koshercorey is selling a Summer Tour 99 tee for relatively cheap. Looks to be in good shape…little boring for my taste.

And A Few More Vests

Morgado called it. We can’t pass up a vest. Everyone loves a sporty vest. Vests are great for showing off your muscles. Sadly, neither
xhonkytonkx or twigx666 refer to these basketball jerseys as vests. Sigh.

We’ve seen this Trial jersey up before. It didn’t get crazy like that Madball jersey did, but it wasn’t too shabby either.

Now, this Shutdown jersey… Can’t say we’ve seen one of these before (ok, someone use the search and prove me wrong). With all the One King Down love we’ve been seeing lately, it wouldn’t surprise me if this one jumped up too. We shall see, right?

Mid Carson July

I know what you are thinking, “WTF is Brian blogging about Mid Carson July? Does anyone even know who this band is?” Well, I don’t. Not really, that is. I happened to see them once, but can’t recall the specifics of their set.

August 27 1999 @ Merrimack College North Andover Mass: Bane, Garrison, Errortype:11, Mid Carson July, Little Dipper

I was really there to see Bane play. Here’s what I remember about this gig. The opening bands played FOR HOURS. It was the longest gig ever somehow. 4 bands then Bane. And it felt like forever. Errortype:11 seemed especially long. And they set up on the floor. Not that anyone was moshing for them.

Then Bane started, really wide stage. This venue was more of a school auditorium then a gig spot. Think Romeo and Juliet with velvet curtains and the works. During one of the first Bane songs, Shanna Barney did a torpedo dive. What does that mean? Well, she held her arms at her side, and her feet together and basically dove head first into the ground. Worst move either. And it isn’t like she was doing that on purpose. She was just executing a terrible dive. Terrible. Needless to say, she would have crushed her head in if a few dudes didn’t grab her at the last minute before she hit the ground. This caused the school people to come running out clambering about “NO STAGE DIVING.” They warned the next stage dive would shut the show down.

Bane began playing again, and some jerkface** stage dove immediately. The school management pulled the plug and that was the end of the show. Seriously. Game over.

DIY Hardcore Hood

I can appreciate some DIY skills.

Nothing wrong with trying to fix your own sink or paint your own wall. Nothing wrong with fixing your own bike or putting together your own complete deck.

But this hood? It’s a little out there for my liking. Granted, it isn’t covered in crusty patches. I’ll give it that much.

AFI, WARZONE, SHUTDOWN, STRAIGHTFACED

Out of the 4 bands, I only truly support one. And another doesn’t offend me, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to promote them.
