Rather Be Dead Than Alive By Your Oppression

Well Refused is playing Coachella so you know what that means. Time to unload their older merch which is just what delapasion is doing. I’m not quite sure how old this actually is. The original design was made by Victory in 1996 (one of two designs they did for the band) but at the time, most of Victory’s hoodies and longsleeves had the Victory logo on one sleeve and either the band logo on the other or four Bulldogs. This has neither…Victory still sells this design but its different than this one. The newer ones have the band logo below the design and are printed on the right side of the shirt. The back print was also much smaller. I’d go with this being original.

Refused The Slayer

At one point, Refused was actually covering Slayer’s “South of Heaven” on tour. I happened to miss the time they did it in Miami with Snapcase but my buddy let me know all about it in excruciatingly great detail. You knew the dudes were down with metal…hell, they even had the logo from the shirt that weaksauce selling in the insert for their Victory Records debut “Songs to Fan the Flames of Discontent”. The band was still straight edge at this point and I dig how they made the X with the swords. Im glad I was able to see them before they broke up…great live band. This one looks to be in great shape and was printed on a black tee. I’ve also seen this in navy blue so this one would be Murphy approved. Great look and also note the lack of bulldogs for those with an allergy to bulldogitis.

Victory Records shirts

Here are a few Victory Records shirts that we don’t see too often. That doesn’t mean these are rare, but probably that no one bought them. First up is a four sided Earth Crisis “Destroy The Machines” long sleeve. The best part about this one is the lack of a bulldog. Pretty rare to see.

How about a seldom seen All Out War Victory Records shirt? This one has the bulldog sleeve print in case you were wondering.

Last but not least is this Refused shirt. We don’t see too much Refused gear around here, but we know you guys are interested. Jim C told me so.

A Shitty Band …

… With An Awesome Plan

I’m not sure what Awesome Plan Refused had, but it’s obvious ss5broley has an awesome plan. First, he throws this shirt up for a $10 BIN. Hard to beat that. Then he describes the size as, “It’s printed on a Fruit of the Loom shirt that’s kind of in-between Small and Medium. The label says 14/16 whatever that means. Probably a European thing.” HAHAHAH. LOL. Damn Euros and their 14/16s!!! They probably invented skinny black jeans too (actually, come to think of it, if they didn’t invent it, they probably popularized it 10 years ago …).

Ending Soon – Refused Hood

I remember when the Bull Moose in Brunswick ME had this hood (and the maroon into another embroidered hood) for literally 2 years. No one wanted them. At the time, these bands obviously weren’t cool.

I’ll be SHOCKED if firewalkwithme_xvx’s auction actually sells for under $10. It’s still down at $5 for now, but I don’t think that’ll last.

Hell Awaits

Instead of saying something stupid about Refused …

Lets just watch this ill video instead.

Ritz in 86. I know some of you dudes were there.

Refused Insert Funny Description Here

Refused wasn’t a hardcore band, and they wanted to make sure you knew it.

Take this tongue and cheek tee, for example.

The back features your typical hardcore live shot with what would normally be lyrics. But instead, Refused turn it on it’s head and say “insert cool hardcore quote here.” Aren’t they just precious?

One time I bought a Refused cd. It was during that time when I would buy any band on certain labels. I was not impressed. And shortly thereafter started using the in store CD player to screen my purchases.

Refused – Slayer Crew Neck

Two bands I never got into — Slayer & Refused.

I was never much of a metal head. I can hang with some early Metallica, some Iron Maiden, a few others, but for the most part, I’d rather just listen to the core.

Same goes with Refused. I recall buying this cd at Bull Moose Brunswick back in the day. Only bought it because it was on Victory Records, and my brother and I tried to buy ANYTHING that was core affiliated in hopes of finding something new and cool. Sadly, Refused wasn’t for me. Maybe Jason was into them, but not so much me.

This video sums up my feelings on the band. Girl crowd surfing, squirt gun, v-neck sweaters, … the best part of the video is the YOT x’ed up fist flyer.

Canadians call them sweaters too? Fucking Canadians …
