Class Up Your Dorm Room

Did you queue up for the latest release from J. Bannon, Lucky Me? If not, you already missed out. You have to be on the ball when it comes to these prints. Hint: keep an eye on the Deathwish Inc twitter page. Lots of great little hints from Tre and Jake. Also, 200 prints have a way of flying off the shelf these days. But don’t fret, there are other prints out there. More in the Lucky Me prints. The DWI store had 200, but there are 200 more. Keep digging. You could find them. Until then, be happy there is ebay where you can still scoop some prints at a pretty reasonable price. Like these two from its.les. Tour prints, good look.

Or maybe grab this one from rka00. Harvest Chrome is a good look. 2010 so don’t expect to pay too much — compared to the old ones, that is.

And if you aren’t happy with any of those (or a Winter Heart print), head over to ebay: J. Bannon for more prints.

Grown Up Wall Coverings

So you’ve moved out of your parents basement, and you are no longer living in that punk squat with 14 other people.

You’ve got your own place with nice hardwood floors and crown molding.

All of a sudden, that Mouthpiece poster just doesn’t feel right hanging over your living room fireplace.

It’s time to step up your game, but again, don’t forget your roots.

What better way to do that than with screened prints from some of your favorite hardcore artists. You’re still supporting the band and repping your scene, but you no longer look like a 14 year old when you do it.

If you are still young and rowdy, I’d suggest Florian Bertmer. Some pretty subversive stuff here. Hang it up before you get that fiancee that poo-poos everything hardcore related.

Jacob Bannon is a little more abstract. You could totally pull any of these off and still look like an adult.

Or maybe you want a classy throwback with a real deal touch. You can’t do much better than repping the Bad Brains. One other cool note, you can’t go wrong with 6 different autographs, especially when those autographs come from Shepard Fairey, Glenn E Friedman, and all the Bad Brains crew.

Converge – Mosh Cap

One time we drove to Infinitys (yes, that’s how it was spelled) in Springfield Mass. It was Cushman, AJ and myself. There may have been others in the car, I can’t recall. This was 1998 and for the time, the lineup was insane. Like big show that pulled kids from all over New England and probably NY too. Check this lineup.

Isis, Cable, Boy Sets Fire, Shadows Fall, Drowning Man, Turmoil, Grade, Coalesce and Converge

So yeah, huge. Not sure how this turned into some weird fest day, but it did. 9 bands in one day. And I don’t think it was booked as a fest. Just a regular “late 90s” show.

As you can guess, it was a LONG fucking day. Converge was headlining (is that true, or did we just leave early after Converge? hmmm) so you know nobody was leaving early. We waited and waited. Some more patient than others.

Turns out, Damian had broken down somewhere with all of the Converge equipment. No equipment + no drummer = (usually) no band playing. This wasn’t the case. Instead of blasting out tunes from Halo In A Haystack, Jake set up some sort of performance. It amounted to lots of loud feedback, random noise and lots of yelling & unintelligible spoken word. There was no moshing (obviously) just a lot of people standing around not sure what to do next.

This hat reminds me of that day.

This hat does NOT remind me of the time I heard Converge cover Judge.
