Maiden Metal Monday

Well if you’ve got $150 to drop on a t-shirt, it might as well be this Iron Maiden “Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son” tour shirt. thesatii bought this on the tour in 1988 when many of us were in elementary school. I can only imagine how amazing they were back then.

Iron Maiden on Metal Monday

When it comes to Iron Maiden, I know a lot of people will pick “The Number of the Beast” as their favorite Maiden record. I can understand that…first record with Bruce Dickinson, the title track, the artwork. Well for me, it’s “Powerslave”. Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Aces High…classic. nuwar-berahim has an original 1984 Iron Maiden “Aces High” shirt for sale and it looks great. Amazing art on this one as is most of their designs. Nice of them to provide pictures of the copyright and the tag to help put you at ease. Also nice that there isn’t some insane BIN to make this actually obtainable. The negative side of this is shipping from Malaysia. I’ve actually shipped numerous shirts over there and haven’t had any problems but shipping from? Who knows? Just food for thought.

Hatebreed Iron Maiden Rip on Metal Wednesday??

This could have fit in on Metal Monday but since this auctions going to end before next Monday, today will be Metal Wednesday. I really like that this Hatebreed “Iron Maiden” rip off that fightback is selling is full color. So many time you see bands attempt to do rip off tees and skimp on the colors in order to cut back on cost. Understandably, Hatebreed is and has been in a better position than most bands (courtesy of relentless touring) so its nice to see that they went the extra mile to make this Killers rip in full color. Pretty sure its once sided as the seller makes no mention of a back print. Overall, a real good look.

Metal Monday Maladies.

Seller themodernmalady is another one making with the Metal Monday goodies today, including this swank King Diamond tee…

But that’s not all he’s got going on right now. Check out these other metal tees that are getting auctioned off:

All of these are still nice and low. Except the Deicide tee above. That one is getting nice and high, which is ok by me, because my eyes are on this Pantera longsleeve anyways…

The Triumphant Return.

For my return to Metal Monday, there’s no better seller to hit up for auctions than the always triumphant janvanderdam, who has a whole ton of tees up and ready for some Metal Monday posting…

More to come later on!

80s Metal on Metal Monday

dipshit35don is killing it with some classic 80′s metal tees. Everything appears to be original as he almost always offers photos of the copyright date to put your collecting fears at ease.

First, this appears to be a one-off Metallica tee from a show that I remember reading about some years ago. If I remember correctly, this was sold at Ruthie’s Inn in California before Kill Em All came out (don’t quote me on that)…so roughly 1983.

Metal Monday On A Friday Night.

I know it’s not Monday, but seller wyco_vintage has a bunch of vintage metal tees up that are gonna end before that favored day rolls around, and as of last night, there were still a bunch that were single digit midgets. And since ol’ Wyco is one of the few vintage sellers who combines reasonably started auctions with the usual whacked out BIN’s, I thought we should do ‘em a solid and give the slower rising tees some attention…

There are plenty more vintage tees up that are still affordable; I just limited myself to the metal tees that were still under 10 bucks. Definitely go check out the other auctions; there are always tons of detailed pictures, and there are plenty of non-metal tees that are just as cheap!

Speaking Of Tie Dye…

I know it’s not Metal Monday, but since I mentioned last night how tie dying a tee is more trouble than it’s worth, this seemed appropriate. Cuz for every cool looking Chain of Strength or Right Brigade tie dye tee you get, you get a dozen that are more akin to this tie dyed Iron Maiden tee from zans666

Now, part of the problem here is the color choice (it looks like a big blood stain on dried vomit) but really this is just a bland, boring dye job. One big blotch, bunch of small striations… total bore fest. What’s worse is that the band made these themselves (or their label or whatever did, I’m not gonna pretend to know how 80s metal bands handled their merch). Maybe this just looks so bad because of the fading, since you can find pictures of similar versions that look much better. And you can definitely find versions that are worse, like the BIN from zans666, which looks like someone just dumped Kool Aid over someone’s shoulders…

Maiden’s Edge.

So I’m watching River’s Edge on Netflix Instant, and a couple things occur to me…

1. Crispin Glover is just as bad an actor as Keanu Reeves, it’s just that he’s eccentric so he gets a pass.

2. The guy who plays the inside out Iron Maiden be-shirted John is the same guy that played Jay Leno in the movie about the Letterman/Leno late night war.

3. The inside out Maiden shirt reminded me that it’s Metal Monday, and tho I promised more metal, I’ve mostly posted hardcore tees. So I started searching to see if I could find the Maiden tee from the movie (it’s the one with the devil face turning into Eddie). I found a ton of modern versions of it, and yknow what? None of them are interesting. So instead I hit up seller the_dvd_hunter’s auctions, since he’s got a SWANK~! Vice is Nice tour tee up. Alas, it’s price is already jacked way up. Luckily, he also has a 1983 tour longsleeve that’s still under $15…

Seriously, how sick is that Miami Vice parody tee? Meanwhile, seller goingtobrasil has a pair of regional Slavery tour tees up that are doing the same “one high/one low” dance: the Texas tee is over $40, but the Canadian tee is still under $5. Probably not for long tho, as both tees prices were climbing as I typed this…
