The M In IME Stands For Maroon.

I’ve been racking my brain trying to remember if anyone I know actually wore this maroon, pre-Revelation era In My Eyes tee that slapscott666 is selling. I feel like someone had to have, but I can’t for the life of recalling anyone I knew not going for the athletic gray with blue ink… I know I personally didn’t go for maroon because I already had a maroon Reason Enough shirt… and yes Ian, I still have it. I don’t have any IME tees anymore though. That’s kind of a shame.

Cheap Shirts: One Hour

It’s a quiet sunday on ebay. Not a lot of activity, not a lot of new auctions. But here’s where you take advantage. These shirts from daysarelikeknives end within the hour, and each is less than $1 currently. That’s right, dirt cheap. Smart if you pick these up and then ask to meet at Mango in Milford, MA for the hand off. Offer to buy him some mango tofu, and he’ll be happy, I bet.

not 80s Suicidal

One last shirt from s-king-sickboy but dont be fooled by the auctions title. This shirt is not from 1983 nor is it from 1987-89 as stated in the description. There is no way it is pre mid-90s with a tag like that. Great shirt though. I always associate this graphic not with Suicidal but with In My Eyes funny enough. TTD friend and fellow HC nerd Anthony Pappalardo put it on a flyer for an IME show which I then put on my wall and had up all through college. So now that image is ingrained into my subconcious with IME.

An IME Answer For Cheesenja

Seller cheesenja has up this In My Eyes shirt, and in his post he claims, “Heard it was one of the first IME tees, but could be wrong (maybe TTD dudes know).” When in doubt, call on TTD, good move! I knew it wasn’t one of the first tees. My impression is that it was a NTH era tee, but I went to a reliable source for more info. This source (a member of In My Eyes, not AP) claimed it was made between the two LPs. There you have it.

IME rec release

Another hit shirt of my youth from heathens. Great shirt. Love the year book style back. This one is in deadstock minty condition which is really rare for this shirt as these were hand screened by the band or their friend Rama. I forget which but I remember seeing them being screened in a kitchen before the gig and being stoked on getting one. The problem with the shirt is that a lot of them wernt heat set all the way and a lot of them ended up having large parts of the graphic being washed out after a few washes.

In My Eyes LS with Revelation Records Sleeve Print

I’ve never been in a band. I have no musical talents (some would claim I have no blogging talents either … touche (amore), zing). But if I was to ever have a band, I would have a few goals. Attainable goals. Nothing outrageous like touring harder than Champion, or crushing it harder than Hatebreed. Simple shit. Tour Europe, play Hawaii (ok, maybe that’s a stretch) and have a longsleeve with a crucial sleeve print. Take this In My Eyes shirt, for example. GREAT sleeve print. Anything with the Rev sleeve print gets a few ratchets up the crucial scale automatically. And since I barely remember ever having seen this shirt with this sleeve print, I’m guessing it’s semi rare. Pretty sure I don’t even have one. You hear that, crushedonyou? You already have a guaranteed bidder. Me.

In My Eyes

When it comes to “Quality over Quantity,” not many bands did it better than In My Eyes. They had a solid streak going. I’d guess they did 22-27 designs in their 4 year run, and hardly any were flops (the stacked logo one was a little out there, but I wouldn’t call it a flop). Think about that. That’s a pretty big number of tees. And a low flop count is hard when you get up that high. But these guys did it. Thanks to crucial_times, you have the opportunity to pick up some of the classics.

98 tour. Such a sick one. Great short sleeve. The longsleeve is probably one of the most unfuckwithable longsleeves EVER. Serious.

The West Coast Weekend tour tee. Not many made. Only sold over a weekend in Cali. Great tee.

Y2X tour. Very hot. I bought mine from Stanley out of a trash bag. I forget the exact show, but it definitely wasn’t an In My Eyes gig. Maybe JSH can chime in and refresh my memory.

This is one that never pops up. It’s a simple one. But chill. I might have to snag this one. I got one previously but the seller neglected to mention the armor like antiperspirant armpits. Not cool. Not cool at all.

And if you can’t get down with used shirts, hit up Shop Shogun for some brand new IME merch. Get on it.

Prohibition … 2000?

In the early 90s, there was a great throw together band called Prohibition. Sweet Pete (Prohibition) sang, Ed McKirdy (Hands Tied, Skull Crusher) played bass, Drew Kline (Strife YO!) played guitar, Sid Strife on drums. There was also a cast of rotating members (hell, every member could probably be considered in this rotation) Mike Hartsfield, Justin Moulder (Suburban Fanzine), Brian Maryansky, Chris Daily, … I’m sure there were plenty more**. They played gigs when each dude was in the same room. So maybe 3 gigs total. It’s hard when dudes live in California, Boston and Jersey/NYC/wherever Ed was living at the point (could have been Boston, but he’s a hermit). How many times were Strife, Undertow, Hands Tied and Sweet Pete all in the same room?

Regardless, I think they last time they played was 95. Could have been 93 even. But I guess I’m wrong, and this shirt from zombieritual83 proves it. Who knew they played again around 2000? I did not, but I’m sorry to have missed it. I knew they were all straight edge, and definitely did plenty of straight edge covers. I did not realize they were so militant. It’s weird, Pete’s a pretty laid back dude. I know he rolls with some dudes who are not straight edge. Same with Andrew and his hip hop crew. Those dudes — not straight edge. Same goes for Ed. I mean, seriously, Ed hangs out with Tim McMahon… But this shirt is proof. Hardline. I’ll probably be bidding big on this one since it is an unknown artifact to me. So please, keep back.

Straight Edge Revenge!

** thanks to Pete and Andrew for filling in the names I had forgotten. Much appreciate.

IME 1998 tour shirt

What a nice way to start out the new year with my favorite In My Eyes shirt. Ok almost favorite, I prefer the longsleeve version of this but im not going to nitpick. This was sold on the 1998 REV summer tour with IME, BT1K, Battery, SPeak 714. I think IME won the merch game as all of their stuff looked awesome and still does and I couldnt even tell you what the merch from the other bands looks like. I saw gigs on this tour all over the East Coast at the start and then I flew out and met up with IME at the end of the tour and caught a bunch of California shows. It was a great time. Met a ton of good dudes, ate a ton of great food, stagedove at the Whiskey, and didnt get sunburned. I dont know if I would want to live in Cali but its a hell of a great place to visit! From garveyburger to you.
