I hate to keep beating the cultzero drum, and honestly this isn’t the greatest design ever, but you know I can’t resist a good pun, and this tee from Carnivore’s reunion shows back 2006 (that I ended up having to skip at the last minute, ugh) has a an appropriate one for the return of a band whose early promo pictures featured a lot of butcher shop leftovers…

Tragedy Tour
Etwiels is also selling the tour shirt from the headliner of that Tragedy / Forward US tour. Didnt Mind Eraser play CBs on this tour? This tour was in support of the Nerve Damage lp. I never really listen to that record. Im not saying it is bad just that “Vengeance” is a hard record to follow up. That record I blast all the time! This shirt does have a soft spot in my heart as it does feature the year and tour dates. I love when shirts do that.

Giant GB Gorilla Head. Back Or Front?
Which way do you prefer your giant Gorilla Biscuits gorilla head? On the front of the tee or the back? You can go vintage early 90s or 2006. Either way, that’s a big fucking mouth, yo.

Guns Up – Sound And Fury 2006
Is it odd that my first Sound And Fury attendance was 2010? The gig has been going for years now, and I’ve known the two thirds of the founding members for 10+ years. I always said, “this year is my year to go.” And it never happened. Last year was my year. But to think, I missed some amazing bands play some amazing sets. One of those bands was Guns Up. Granted, they are sort of home town heroes. I’ve seen them plenty over the years. In fact, I walked to their “last show,” and walked home after the blizzard. That was a great night. But to think. I missed some west coast gigs. Here’s what I missed.
And of course, I missed picking up this shirt that ape-tar snagged. It’s a good one. Big fan of the front. I dig the back, but the font is a little skewed for me. Great tee. And I think sneakernoize.com would agree, nice goldenrods.
Flexfit? Nah, I Want 5-Panels
Flexfits are one step closer to 5 panels. Snapbacks are ok, truckers are whatever, New Era fitteds are cool, but 5-panels are wehre it’s at! For now, we’ll have to settle on this Bane from fantomas_4_life. These dropped back in mid 2006. 3 colors, as far as I recall. Navy with white stitching, red with white stitching, and I think black with red stitching. I could be dreaming up that black one though. I recall joining up with Bane during the Dead Note tour with Strike Anywhere, A Global Threat and This Is Hell. They had VERY few of these left. I managed to snag a few before they all disappeared. Got to keep that collection stocked, you know? I would love to add a Bane 5-panel hat to the collection. Hear me?
Gorilla Biscuits & Paul Frank
When Gorilla Biscuits reunited back in 2006, they had a few tricks up their sleeves. Not only did they do new merch, but they also did merch collaborations with a big name brand. Ok, it wasn’t Nike, but in this scene, Paul Frank is pretty damn big. They did two tshirts with Paul Frank (and some other stuff … which we’ll not talk about). One featured the EP cover with the PF Monkey Face, and the other was the giant gorilla face with a sweet gold tooth. The tshirts were branded with Paul Frank tags and were super soft. BUT the shirt donchucho has up is definitely NOT like the one I have. My shirt tag is white, the tooth is SHINY gold and there is NO Paul Frank screen on it. Did PF reprint them?
WTF? Down To Nothing
xcactusdavex upped a VERY interesting Down To Nothing tee. I’m staring and staring. I’m checking the graphic, and it’s not making any sense. Am I blind or is that a bat-winged spider holding a chainsaw with robotic arms? Seriously, wtf is going on here?
Dead Note
Back in the fall of 2006, I got to roll with Bane along the west coast dates of their Dead Note tour. This was a full US tour to promote two new album releases. Strike Anywhere’s Dead FM LP and Bane’s The Note LP. Both pretty excellent albums. This tour also featured A Global Threat and This Is Hell. Quite the mix which always lead to interesting turn outs.
I met up with Bane in San Diego and rolled all the way up to Seattle. The Epicentre San Diego, the Knitting Room in LA, The Glasshouse in Pomona, The Attic in Santa Cruz, The Pound SF in San Francisco and finally El Corazon in Seattle.
The best show was probably at the Glasshouse. Kids were packed in tight, lots of great stage diving potential. Travis and I were having a friendly stage diving contest, which Travis won hands down. Just an excellent vibe and an excellent gig. The Santa Cruz gig involved Good Clean Fun and is a story unto itself.
Here’s the shirt that Bane was selling on the tour. Some kids LOVED it, other kids just scratched their heads. I sold lots of merch on this tour and afterwards, it seemed the only shirts unsold were all XLs. I guess no one wanted a GIANT yellow tee. Weird.
Ps biggins_breakdown has a ton of shirts BIN for $12.99. Check it. Cruel Hand, Death Before Dishonor, Madball, … Get into it. Continue reading
LOJ & Time Travel
Lion Of Judah know how to time travel**.
No joke.
It’s amazing.
I hung with Ritter last weekend. He didn’t mention any time traveling abilities to me, but they must exist.
Here is their 2006 tour shirt. A good one, no doubt.
And here is there 1999 tour shirt.
That’s right, 1999. Click the picture and check the auction yourself. I’m sure the seller wouldn’t make something like that up***.
** at least, according to silverruins.
*** how the hell did the seller come up with “1999 tour shirt” based on those pics?? Continue reading
